There are many people who have failed to see the significance of education. Majority of these people do not see the importance of education because the society has been fed with the notion that education is there to act as a key to the world of employment. However, there are many college graduates who are jobless and the rate of unemployment is still on the rise. For these people, if they are asked, they will often claim that college education is a waste of both time and money. However, this is not actually true. Education has many advantages other than acting as a stepping stone to the world of employment.
However, it should be noted that education and particularly college education acts as a license indicating that an individual is qualified to work in a certain field. It requires the effort of the degree holder to secure a job. Also, education is important since it opens a person’s mind to think differently and creatively; a quality that is essential especially within the contemporary society. Moreover, education teaches social skills that helps a person to live with others in the right way.
Through education, people also know how to live a healthy life. This is not the case among the people who are illiterate as they will struggle with preventable diseases which one could have known if they would have gone through the education system. Therefore, claiming that education does not matter or college education is nothing but a waste of time and money is wrong.
