Correctly identify your assigned social determinant. Briefly define the  determinant and describe how it impacts healthcare outcomes. Social Determinant: Social and community context “Social determinants of health (SDOH) are the conditions in the environments  where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide  range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks” (Healthy  People, 2030). To understand social and community context is to acknowledge the interactions and relationships between family and the people in the community. It  is thought that a strong foundation and head start to life begins at home with a  stable sense of security, safety, and when the basic needs are met. In respect to  Maslow Hierarchy of needs, there are 5 tiers that begin with physiological needs  at the bottom that are needed for survival and gives foundation to the remaining  tiers that ends with a more psychological reflection of self-actualization tier at the  top. With each tier, all the needs must be accommodated or satisfied to move to  the next step. “Maslow’s theory provides a framework for understanding these  needs, system impacts on society, and what motivates humans” (Ryan at al.,  2020). For instance, the basic need for food, shelter, clothing, and water is  necessary for survival. The next tier is security, health and family and social  ability. It is in this tier, and the next tier of love and bonding where relational  connections and closeness becomes of great importance to prevent suffering in  other aspects of life. The other aspects of life include social situation such as jobs, marriages, or raising children, other aspects include healing from past trauma that  could affect the brain and ultimately the body as well.  b. An objective related to my assigned social determinant from Healthy People 2030 website would be to increase the proportion of children and adolescents who  communicate positively with their parents. Most recent data shows that the  percent of children and adolescents who have parent to report their problems has  been on the decline since 2016-17. To be exact, is 2016-17, data shows 68.5% of  parents who knew their child’s health history, spoke about experiences, beliefs,  and feelings and currently the data shows at 62%. This trend shows that children  and adolescents do not have parental figures present to openly communicate with.
