Film Analysis The media plays a critical role in depicting society. The family is one of the most critical elements of society. Through media, we can see how the basic units of society operate and how they have changed over time (Singh & Pandey, 2017). People have different experiences in the family. Through media, we can reflect on these experiences and learn about others. The world comprises different societies and customs. Media makes us experience what being in other cultures would feel like, and a great learning experience. This paper uses The Great Indian Kitchen Film to understand how family, the roles of family members and their interaction. The Great Indian Kitchen is a film that follows the story of a dancer who starts a family after marrying a teacher through an arranged marriage. Being a patrilocal society, the woman moves into the husband's house after the wedding. The film depicts how Indian families work and, most importantly, the gender norms. Several shots in the film show kitchen activities such as washing utensils, cu5tting vegetables, and making dosas. All these activities are done by women alone.
