Acquisition refers to the process of seeking services or supplies through the formulation of a contract and budget where the Federal Government leases or purchases the services and goods provided.
Acquisition planning, therefore, refers to the process of coordination and integration of the personal efforts within an acquisition by implementing a comprehensive plan that will ensure satisfaction of agency needs within set scope and budget (Woods et al. 2014). Therefore acquisition requires proper management through the formulation of an overall strategy.
Contract formation involves consolidation of different requirements existing under smaller contracts to form a single requirement to achieve earlier contract awards. The process of contracting involves different phases such acquisition planning. The next phase is solicitation which includes implementation of the acquisition plan by the Contracting Officer.
Another crucial phase is the evaluation phase which examines the quotes or proposals to identify whether they match the requirement (Woods et al. 2014). Next phase includes negotiation where the contractor with the possibility of gaining contract award negotiates with the acquisition team.
Next phase is the post-negotiation and award phase which involves making of award selection based on reviews from the previous negotiation. Lastly, there is the contract administration where management of the contract takes effect after contract award.
Impacts of Drones
Drones are impacting the process of acquisition through providing shipping services which are efficient and fast. Another impact is to the military where drones ensure less military engagement in the fight as they provide precision strikes in areas which are much risky. Also, the drones ensure real-time monitoring of activities happening on the ground (Smith, 2015).
Also, it provides the military the capability of spying on phone conversations thus able to formulate the best strategy when striking. In future, acquisition of goods will be faster due to faster deliveries into cities.
An example of such fulfillment is the Amazon beehive-like towers which will act as fulfillment centers for drones thus impacting the e-commerce industry by ensuring faster deliveries to a large population in the cities.
