MAC3702/EXAM GUIDANCE/0/2021 EXAM GUIDANCE/0/2021 APPLICATION OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES MAC3702 / MAC3702 EXAM GUIDANCE,0,2021 APPLICATION OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES 4 INVIGILATOR APP Please carefully read the announcement on myUnisa regarding the invigilator app. This announcement provides you with more information, frequently asked questions and a video on how to use the app. Please download the app before the exam date and watch the related video to ensure you know how it works. Additional instructions regarding the Invigilator Application (App):  You cannot use your phone to view the Exam Question Paper and use the invigilator app on the same device. You need two separate devices. Refer to the Invigilator announcement for more information.  Please remember to keep both your devices fully charged for the duration of the exam.  Please log into The Invigilator App at the beginning of the exam. You need to be connected to the internet to log in.  Scan the QR code on page 2 of the exam question paper on the Invigilator app once the examination starts. If you encounter difficulty with scanning of the QR code, you can also enter the QR access code as indicated at the bottom of the QR code.  Once the QR code is scanned, avoid any disturbances by putting your phone on airplane mode. No internet connection is needed during the assessment.  Keep the Invigilator app open at all times on your cell phone during the assessment.  You may place your cell phone next to you. Your cell phone does not need to face you however should be close enough to hear the notifications from The Invigilator App.  The Invigilator App will notify you when an action is required.  In order to receive notifications do not put your cell phone on silent mode and ensure media volume is turned up.  When an action is required, a notification beep will be heard, and an instruction will be visible.  Please take note that once the examination time is over, firstly focus on scanning and uploading your answer file to your assessment platforms. Uploading your answer file is time sensitive so please prioritise the upload of the exam answer file/document at the end of the exam time.  You can minimise the invigilator app and use your cell phone to scan the exam answer file document during the upload time. MAC3702/EXAM GUIDANCE/0/2021 5  Once your answer file is uploaded on your assessment platform, you may switch on your data to start the uploading process on The Invigilator app. 5 WHERE TO FIND THE EXAMINATION PAPER The examination question paper will be posted on myUnisa at the start of the session on the day of the examination. A new examination question paper download tool will be available on the myUnisa landing page. Login with your student number and myUnisa password. For further details refer to the MAC3702 guide provided as a link to your timetable. Claim your myUnisa password before the start of the examination if you have not done so already. 5.1 Steps to follow to access to the examination paper On the day of the examination, do the following on the myUnisa landing page 1. 15 minutes before the examination commences, access the myUnisa (https://my.unisa.ac.za/portal) site. 2. Find the link Login and download my Exam Question Paper for January/February 2021 from the myUnisa landing page and login with your student number and password. 3. Click on the pdf document (attachment) for this module – MAC3702. You can print this document, if you are able to, or you can view/save it on your device while completing your answer. 4. You will be required to be online to download the question paper, then go offline to create an answer file and return online to submit the answer file on the Assessment Info tool. 6 COMPLETING YOUR EXAM ANSWER PAPER You can complete your exam answer paper in one of the following two ways: 1. You can type your answer on your laptop/tablet/PC in word/excel – which you must convert to PDF to upload. Ensure that all your pages show on the PDF document (that no paper is lost during the conversion - especially if you have more than one sheet in excel). 2. You can write your answer using a black pen on any paper – which you then scan to create a PDF file by using an app on your cell phone. Ensure that you scan the pages in the correct order. Refer to the MAC3702 guide which is provided as a link to your examination timetable on myUnisa (Assessments, Exam timetable per student) for stepby-step instructions on scanning your answers in a PDF file. 3. In terms of layout:  You do not need to insert a cover page but ensure that you write or type your student number at the top of each page and also number your pages (1,2 etc.). You can perhaps do this before the exam, so that you are prepared before the exam time starts. MAC3702/EXAM GUIDANCE/0/2021 6  Start each question on a new page and write the question number at the top of each page. 7 HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ANSWER FILE 7.1 Take-home answer file requirements  Students may hand write or type their answers.  Hand written answers: Use a traditional black pen on a ruled paper (For example, an examination pad) and please ensure you write neatly and legibly. Then scan your answer sheets to one PDF file for which you can use a cellphone/tablet app to assist you. Please number your pages and scan in the correct order.  Typed answers: You need to convert your document (from Word/ Excel format) to one PDF file before submitting. Ensure all your calculations are included and visible on your PDF file/document, especially if you are using Excel because we will only be able to mark what we can see and hence cannot mark detailed calculations you performed within a cell.  PDF file requirements: o Before submitting your answer file, you must ensure that your answer file is in a PDF document and that all your answer sheets (including workings) are included in this single PDF document/file and is legible. o Ensure your PDF file is not corrupted, contains no viruses, and it is not password protected because such files cannot be marked. o Make sure you submit the correct file. Lecturers or any other person, will under no circumstances be able to replace your submitted file. o Practice converting your handwritten and/or typed answers into one PDF file that can be submitted online, before the examination. o The file name of your pdf document must be in the following format: Student number, space, MAC3702. For example: 33445566 MAC3702.  NB: Only PDF files are permitted on the online exam submission platform. During submission, you will be restricted to this format.  All answer files may only be submitted via the official route (on myUnisa as per point 7.2 below) within the allocated time. According to the university rules and regulations, strictly, no other submission method is allowed.  You will be able to submit your answer file either on the dedicated Exams tool, which will be located on the myUnisa front page, or using the Assessment Info Tool on the relevant module sites in myModules. This applies to both current registrations and supplementary students. The examination tool will only become available on the front page the day before the official start of the examination.  Step-by-step student guides and videos are available for each assessment type and will be provided as links on your examination timetables.
