Introduction

According to Schiller-Merkens (2017), ethical design management is concerned with moral behavior and sound judgment during the design processes. It directs how designers communicate with product consumers and teammates, how they execute design processes, select product attributes, and assess the overall ethical significance or moral standing of the items that result from the design procedures. Although ethical considerations have always been central to design thinking, the expansion of empirical knowledge and technologies have aided in our comprehension of the ethical dimensions of design. While it is ideal for companies to take ownership of their ethical activities, others frequently delegate this task. Culture, society, and governments are redefining what constitutes "ethical" behavior and what has been accepted as normal. How can companies consider ethical design while the status quo alters on an ever-changing planet? Here is when ethical design principles come into play. The purpose of this paper is to investigate, assess, and discuss ethical design management in the fashion sector, specifically Zara, through the use of a theoretical model of design management. Furthermore, this report will critically evaluate and apply a design management theoretical model and develop strategies in response to problems highlighted in the Zara case study using effective planning and research. Moreover, this report will critically assess and apply a design management theoretical framework and offer solutions in response to challenges revealed in the Zara case study utilizing appropriate planning and research.

1.1 Methodology.

The report's content was principally gathered and analyzed through a thorough assessment of numerous articles and books on ethical design management. I began by searching for articles that documented and examined ethical design, ethical design management, and ethical design management strategy. In general, these publications were simple to locate; however, those relating to Inditex-business Zara's model and sustainability and ethical design management proved more challenging to locate. Many of the sources cited in this research date from 2017. My intention was that this paper would add extra and contemporary insight to the discussion of ethical design management, particularly in the fast fashion industry. According to Haug (2017), numerous ethical design concepts are based on an appreciation for human rights, effort, and experiences. They are even influenced by the UNDHR, United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. Aral Balkan and Laura Kalbag's "Ethical Hierarchy of Needs" pyramid demonstrates the fundamentals of ethical design management and how each tier of the pyramid depends on the layer underneath it to guarantee the design is ethical (Bascur et al., 2021).

Additionally, companies have a moral imperative to develop intuitive and safe goods (Moorhouse & Moorhouse, 2017). A case in point of how good usability enhances the user experience: Walgreens, an American pharmacy, supports its
